Challenge: Drastic Increase in Remote Interviews

Interviewstream offers an end-to-end online job interview system, including video interviews, to simplify the hiring process for hundreds of businesses and educational institutions. COVID-19 significantly accelerated the demand for safe and effective remote interviews and screenings. Interviewstream needed the ability to scale while simultaneously improving both development velocity and customer satisfaction.

 

Dramatically Better Performance

Kickdrum helped Interviewstream optimize their usage of AWS resources to achieve dramatically better performance throughout the system. Through a combination of caching, query tuning, and targeted code changes, Kickdrum made numerous database operations execute 10-100X faster and eliminated millions of queries each week from needing to happen at all. Kickdrum was also able to leverage batching capabilities to realize a 10x improvement in Amazon SQS processing times. The result: significantly faster response time for every user.

 

More Customers, Bigger Customers

Scalability improvements in the data layer let Interviewstream handle 2-5X more customers using the same amount of infrastructure. These optimizations also enabled Interviewstream to go after larger and more strategic customers than ever before.

 

Faster Resolution Time

Kickdrum enabled InterviewStream’s support team to access de-identified data on behalf of end users. That means resolving customer concerns without help from developers, resulting in faster issue resolutions across the board. As a bonus, less distractions for the development team means increased engineering velocity.
