Parental visibility into School Information Systems

At the start of the global Covid pandemic, as more learning shifted online, parents were frequently out of the loop about their children’s performance. Kickdrum built an MVP for Eddy to load Google Classroom data into a parental dashboard with all the critical information parents need to know. The platform provides up to the minute status on assignments and classes, along with assignment details and materials provided by the teachers.

Fresh data = informed parents

Built on AWS services, Kickdrum leveraged a combination of scheduled and on-demand jobs to keep students’ classroom data fresh on the parent dashboard. Using AWS native services including Cognito, Lambdas, API Gateway, RDS, Kickdrum was able to rapidly develop an MVP, integrate it with Google Classroom, and deploy administrative tools to manage users and platform data. Email and SMS integration using AWS SES enabled parents to receive notifications about status changes and new assignments.

With greater visibility, easier access to data, and intelligent notifications, Eddy provides parents with the data they need, when they need it, to better understand how children are performing and what activities to be prepared for. Partnering with Kickdrum and leveraging AWS native tools, Eddy was able to go from idea to MVP in a matter of months and demonstrate a positive impact on parents, students, and teachers.
